Congrats, you're having a baby!
The most exciting part of your life is about to start! You're about to experience a love so indescribable that I won't even attempt to put into words and of course you want to document it! Luckily, that is what I am here for but you might not be sure which session you want to book. Hopefully I can clear up any questions you may have by giving you all the information to decide which is best for your little family!
A Fresh 48 session is done in the hospital, usually within the first 48 hours of birth (obviously before you're discharged), hence the name Fresh 48. Fresh is the best way to describe it, too. Your baby is brand new to the world, motherhood is looking pretty raw, and the emotions are all too real. I find that these sessions can be a little easier on the new parents. There is no house to tidy up, no need to worry about where the photos will be taken especially if you don't have a ton of natural light, and you aren't stressing about if the nursery is complete. I also feel that because you are in the hospital that you may not feel the pressure of needing to be all dolled up. I personally threw on a black button down pajama dress, put on mascara and had my hair in a claw clip. That was enough for me! But I've had moms who were beautifully glammed. There is no wrong answer. Lastly, while I allot the 1.5 hours for the session, I do my best to be in and out to respect your time. I know all too well how exhausting it is to feel like it's a revolving door of people coming in and out of the room when all you want to do is rest.
Pros: Document all the details of baby when they first arrive, no tidying up
Cons: May not feel up to having photos taken, lacks flexibility with timing
A Lifestyle Newborn session is usually done within the first two weeks of baby being born since that is when they are still sleepiest. But flexibility is the biggest thing with this type of session, they can certainly be done after the 2 week mark. This session is taken from the comfort of your home (or I can book a studio) and reflects your new life with baby. I love these because of the personal touches you have in your home, the little details in the nursery that you spent so long perfecting, and even the fur babies who get to join in. We make this session what you would like it to be and take it a little slower, if you want to read to baby, nurse, bathe, etc. all of that can be documented.
Pros: Flexibility with timing, extra time to heal, fur babies friends get to join
Cons: Baby has already changed a lot since birth
So if you STILL can't decide...you can always book both! I'd be happy to discuss a package for you. I also include a session guide to help you prepare for either after booking! I want to make this part super easy for you.
